Good or Bad Neighbors?
If you’re thinking of buying a condo unit, make sure it’s a decision based on intelligent information gathering. It’s like a war, where you have to choose which territories to attack. Is it on the high-ground or low-ground? Is it worth fighting for? Same thing with condo buying or renting, is it worth every bang for your buck? Here are some things you need to think about before you shell out that downpayment money and regret it.
If possible, know someone who lives or rents there. Get an unbiased feedback from them. Would they recommend this place to their friends and family? Is there an on-going issue between the owners and the landlords? Get the facts straight by confirming this with the landlord after.
Interview your possible next-door neighbors. Are they the type that you can share your space with? Do they take care of the amenities after they use it? Remember, you’ll be sharing a lot of amenities with these people. If you feel that you can’t live beside these people, I suggest you either look for another location in the building or go to another one altogether.
Utilities and amenities can be fixed and improved, but the people who’s going to be living around you may not.
